Oops - check the plug on BOTH ends

Earlier today, my computer went dark.
I’d been working quietly, deep in something that mattered to me. My laptop was plugged in, or so I thought. But the screen went black—no big drama, just quietly off.
After a moment of confusion, I checked the cord. It was snug in the laptop. Everything seemed right. But when I looked a little further, I noticed the plug had come loose from the wall. Not far—just a small shift—but enough to cut the connection.
Plugged in - but not at the source.
And somehow, it felt familiar.
I thought of how easy it is to move through my days with everything appearing connected. Doing the practices. Keeping the routines. Staying in motion. But sometimes, without realizing it, I’ve drifted just a little out of alignment with the deeper source of energy that really sustains me.
- Maybe I’ve been showing up for others, but not quite for myself.
- Maybe I've quietly dissociated into doom-scrolling and Netflix.
- Maybe I’ve been in my head more than in my heart.
- Maybe I’ve just gotten a little too busy to notice the quiet hum of something deeper calling me back.
The computer reminded me: even when everything looks connected, the real energy only flows when I’m plugged in at the source.
That “source” might be different for each of us.
For me, it’s the stillness beneath the noise. Watching those exact wild geese for a few extra minutes on my bike ride. Noticing the breath when I forget I’m being breathed. The sense of something loving and vast that holds me, even when I’m not paying attention.
I don’t need to make a big deal about it. I just need to notice.
So today, I’m letting that small power interruption remind me to pause. To listen. To return—gently—to what reconnects me with what matters most.
Not to fix or strive.
Just to plug in a little more fully.
I think I'll go give my husband a smooch.
